Significance of the Integers

Significance of the Integers

 Mystical Interpretation

The Void, The Yoni, the Egg, the receptacle, the all-absorbing, no reflection.

Consciousness, The Phallus, reproducing after itself, the all-reflecting.

From 0 by extension

Consciousness aware of itself through reflection, thought, sound, reverberation.

From 1 by reflection 1/1 (or by revolution of the line around its end)

Consciousness within and a part of Nuit, aware of itself, all-relation.

From 1 and 2 by addition

Consciousness manifest (and profane), aware of itself as independent to all relation.

From 2 by multiplication.

Consciousness aware and active upon the field of relation.

From 2 and 3 by addition.

Consciousness in perfect relation, passive and balanced.

From 2 and 3 by multiplication.

Consciousness unites through a particular relation. Union.

From 2 and 3 by multiplication.

Consciousness perceives itself materially in this relation.

From 3 and 4 by addition, also 8 = 23.

Consciousness wills this relation.

From 2 and 3 by multiplication, also 9 = 32.

Consciousness (1) separate from Potential (0) for the possibility of Union.

From 1 + 2 + 3 + 4.

The Egg of the Universe

The Yoni.

The Light, The Arrow

The Lingam.

The Light concealing itself. The light hits and illumines an Object.

The Union (of Lingam & Yoni)

A Circle that will not be.*

The Birth

The Bow and Arrow.

A ploughshare, The lowered horns, The image of the 2 reflected.

A taking into the circle from above.

A crutch, a walking stick, a support.

Two circles above and below informing each other. A taking into the circle from below.

* A circle open at the centre hinge; the below reflecting the above; two half circles: the self-reflection of the 2.

The glyph of 0, and the Idea it represents listed in this chapter under its various forms is seen to be the source and return of all things.

Other Interpretations

These interpretations arising as they do from the Old System are necessarily tainted by interpretations symptomatic of the Nihilism contained in the old Law and the religious viewpoint held in the past. As such we have the idea not of a Manifest Universe but of a Creation. Furthermore this degeneration is seen as progressive for as one moves away from the Unit, one moves away from Purity and the Godhead - so that the higher the number, or the more material the manifestation, the more corruptible it is seen to be.
